Shopbop Launches Beauty with Sephora

With the inextricable link between fashion and beauty, I’ve wondered how long it would be before a non-department store fashion entity would add beauty to its product portfolio.  Turns out, not as long as I wondered (ok, about a year – call me a trendsetter)! 

Shopbop.com has joined forces with Sephora to create the Sephora Collection Color Play 5-in-1 Limited Edition makeup palette.  This partnership marks the e-tailer’s first beauty collaboration in creating original, exclusive product for the site.  The Color Play palette includes eye shadows, lip colors and blush, and comes with a portable mirror compact.  It’s inspired by Shopbop’s latest editorial look book, “Faces of Fashion,” which is scheduled to premiere on Shopbop.com on Sunday.  According to WWD, the look book will feature five fashion archetypes, such as “Boho Bombshell” and “A Nod to Mod,” each of which corresponds to one of the makeup palettes.

The palette, which retails for $30, has made its debut in Sephora stores and at sephora.com – just in time for the holiday shopping madness – and will launch on Shopbop.com Wednesday, December 29th.  The brands are also sponsoring a contest to kick off the launch, offering a chance to win – get ready for it – a year’s supply of makeup from Sephora and a $2500 shopping spree at Shopbop.com.  I DIE.

It’s only a matter of time before other fashion and beauty brands follow suit.  Who do you think will be next?!

    After I initially left a comment I appear to have clicked on

    I do agree with all of the ideas you’ve presented on your post. They’re very convincing and can definitely work.
    Nonetheless, the posts are too brief for beginners. Could you please lengthen them a bit from next time?

    It seems like by this point every color has to have been done already yet beauty brands continue to impress by being truly fashion forward. A note to well-established brands with a history of setting fashion trends – I wish you would design a vintage or back from the vault collection every year or every other year! Instead lets read about the beauty and fashion resolutions that Jennifer from put together.
