Why There Must Be Style Ethics

July 5, 2010

It’s been a while since I have commented on celebrity style faux pas.  Frankly, neither of these choices will come as a surprise.  Still, they must be called out.  What do you think?

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon

It’s probably not even fair at this point to call Mariah Carey out on her disastrous fashion choices.  But camel-toe capri sweatpants with t-strap platforms?  And then she cuffed them!  Seriously?!  Let’s stretch our imaginations for a second and assume she’s actually leaving the gym (and is too much of a diva to be seen in sneakers), not just walking around in public like this (with Nick Cannon looking like a cartoon thug).  Did she really think that this was the stylish way to go?  And there’s NO WAY you could comfortably do squats with sweatpants stuck in your crotch!  Oh Mimi.

Jada Pinkett Smith

I think Jada Pinkett Smith is one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood.  She has great hair, amazing skin and a ridiculous figure.  And apparently, no stylist.  Here, she’s attending the 2010 BET awards dressed in what appears to be Willow’s romper and Jaden’s tuxedo jacket.  I get it – she’s creative, she’s too cool for convention and she has amazing legs.  But this is just wrong!  The shoes, the hair, the peekaboo bra.  The only thing I applaud is the glossy red lip.  But I can barely focus on her makeup because her braids look so tight (and ridiculous).  Didn’t she see my post about Naomi Campbell?!

Exactly what I thought when I saw this foolishness!
