Why There Must Be Style Ethics

January 13, 2010

I try to keep things positive and really focus on the beauty and style news and products that get me really excited. Except sometimes, things happen that make me stop and say, “Seriously?!?”

1. Jimmy Choo is partnering with Ugg Australia (I know, I never expected to hear of such a thing) on a collection of five women’s sheepskin shoes.

2. Miley Cyrus’ little sister, Noah Cyrus, looks like she belongs to Woody Allen. How is it possible that big sis is on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar (looking as amazing as they could make her look…considering…) and this 10 year-old girl was permitted to walk around like this? And don’t get me started on the black-and-red underwear as outerwear looking camisole. She’s 10! And then it’s layered under a leopard print cardigan. I’m all about self expression but seriously?!

3. Natalie Portman wore the adorable $39.99 Rodarte for Target crepe slip dress this past weekend on the red carpet for the 9th Annual Arts & Leisure Weekend here in NYC…and then put an ill-fitting cardigan over it and decided to belt it, which looks even more desperate because the only thing worse than ill-fitting clothes are ill-fitting accessories! I do love the booties though. At any rate, you be the judge – click here.

Slightly off topic maybe, also a slightly strange question, but I am just after a bit extra information about the manufacture of UGG footwear. Does anyone know what type of sheep they are made from? And are real UGGs made from the same type as the copies?
