Naked Ladies

January 5, 2010

Spring makeup collections typically usher in bright, fresh color. But Spring 2010 is all about embracing the buff…starting with Jennifer Lopez on the January 2010 cover of Allure Magazine. La Lopez is forty and fabulous and this cover says it all. She’s also beautifully bronzed, courtesy of makeup artist Scott Barnes. He told Allure, “I wanted to do a tawny, bronzy look; anyone could create it at home.” And that, he did.

To DIY, apply a pinky-peach blush to cheeks, then gold highlighter to cheeks and brow bones. Add to nose too, for more drama. Then apply a dark bronze or burgundy shadow to eyes, rim them with black liner (if you’re really fair, have fun with a dark bronze or dark brown liner). Lips should be natural and flesh-colored. Think your lips but better. If you’re fair to medium, try a gray-beige lip gloss. For darker skin tones, go with a gloss that is slightly warmer – no gray! My favorite nude is NARS Lip Gloss in Sandpiper.

Want more nudity? Finish with fabulous taupe tips courtesy of the Chanel 2010 Collection, Les Impressions De Chanel. Particulière (far left) is a divine dusky gray shade that I will be donning this spring! (Well, once my Vendetta mani wanes.)
