Tiffany Introduces ‘Holly’ Bags
In an effort to move beyond the coveted jewelry for which it is known, Tiffany debuted a new collection of hand bags last week. This launch comes about two and a half years after the brand’s entry into eye wear, and thirty years after the New York-based company launched a failed collection of bags and scarves.
The collection mostly features bags in the $395-$1000 range, with a few exceptions, including a $17,500 crocodile leather ‘Manhattan’ satchel. How Hermes of them.
The $595 ‘Holly’ clutches – named after Audrey Hepburn’s Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s – are cute and somewhat gift-able, but I’m curious to see how many people will spend that kind of cash on a Tiffany clutch, when you can get a great bag for less at Kate Spade! If you’re like me, you’re checking out the usual suspects (Vuitton, Prada, YSL) when considering a bag to invest that kind of money.
The collection will be sold in Tiffany’s 12 largest U.S. stores starting in September. I may not buy a bag, but I may pay them a visit while viewing more sparkly things!
